Chief Accountant

About the role

Mount Kilimanjaro Safari Club is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead the finance function across its Tanzania hospitality properties. This senior position combines rigorous accounting oversight with strategic influence on business decisions, supporting world‑class safari experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and all financial records.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company standards.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management, financial planning and performance reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian statutory requirements (TRA, VAT, PAYE, SDL, WCF, NSSF, etc.).
• Coordinate internal and external audits and strengthen internal control frameworks.
• Oversee the full accounting cycle: accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory and reconciliations.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team while improving processes and ERP systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• CPA (T) qualification (mandatory).
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, including senior finance leadership.
• Hospitality, tourism or multi‑site operation experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax legislation, IFRS and statutory compliance.
