Central Nursery and Seedbank Manager

About the role

The Central Nursery and Seedbank Manager will lead the development, establishment and management of Central Tree Nurseries and Seedbank systems, ensuring a reliable supply of high‑quality, climate‑resilient seedlings for farmers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement strategic plans for central nurseries and seedbanks aligned with program targets and seasonal demand.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, monitoring systems and quality‑assurance mechanisms.
• Coordinate with program, technical and field teams to integrate nursery and seedbank operations into broader project delivery.
• Build capacity of staff and farmers in seed collection, processing, storage and nursery management.
• Ensure genetic diversity, ecological suitability and traceability of all seedlings and seeds produced.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation to increase productivity, sustainability and impact.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing tree nurseries, seedbanks or similar agricultural production systems.
• Strong understanding of agroforestry, forest garden approaches and climate‑resilient species selection.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and local farmer groups.
• Excellent organizational, planning and monitoring skills.
• Commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
