BVD Preparedness Coordinator – Special Task

About the role

The BVD Preparedness Coordinator – Special Task will lead the implementation of the Bundibugyo Virus Disease (BVD) preparedness work plan in Tanzania’s Kagera Region from August to November 2026. Reporting to the RISE Technical Advisor, the coordinator will work closely with the RISE field team, regional and council health management teams, health facilities and community structures to ensure high‑quality, documented activities that strengthen frontline BVD readiness and risk communication.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the approved BVD Preparedness Work Plan into detailed activity schedules, logistic plans and follow‑up actions.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation across Kyerwa, Ngara, Misenyi and Bukoba Municipal Councils, monitoring scope, budget and timelines.
• Maintain an implementation tracker, identify bottlenecks early and escalate issues to RISE and government counterparts.
• Support regional and facility teams to improve early case recognition, isolation, safe referral, infection prevention and control (IPC) and surveillance.
• Organise and document facility‑based tabletop exercises, ensuring lessons are captured and actions completed.
• Facilitate orientation of facility‑linked change agents (community leaders, traditional healers, boda‑boda riders, venue managers) and ensure risk communication messages reinforce early care‑seeking.
