Backend Developer Intern – Java Spring Boot & PostgreSQL

About the role

Universe Advanced Technologies Limited is looking for a motivated Backend Developer Intern to join its engineering team in Dar es Salaam. You will work on real‑world financial and business applications, gaining hands‑on experience with modern backend technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop backend APIs and business logic using Java Spring Boot.
• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
• Integrate frontend components with backend services and REST APIs.
• Participate in system architecture discussions, debugging, and performance optimisation.
• Assist with authentication, authorization, and security controls.
• Support deployment, testing, and maintenance of enterprise applications.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of Java programming and the Spring Boot framework.
• Understanding of relational databases, SQL and REST API concepts.
• Familiarity with object‑oriented programming principles.
