Assistant Finance Officer Internship

About the role

The Assistant Finance Officer internship offers recent graduates a hands‑on opportunity to work within the Finance department of the Shule Bora education programme. Over a six‑month period (extendable), you will support the financial operations of a large‑scale, government‑led initiative aimed at improving primary education in Tanzania.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing bank reconciliation statements and ensure timely approval.
• Manage petty cash, perform regular reconciliations, and record all cash transactions.
• Support payment processing, including per diems, vouchers, and cheque issuance.
• Compile vendor lists and collate vouchers for batch processing in the financial system.
• Ensure all payment vouchers meet audit requirements with proper approvals and documentation.
• Assist with tax compliance, particularly withholding tax obligations.

Required profile

• Tanzanian nationality, fresh graduate or with up to two years of experience.
• Upper‑second‑class degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
• Proactive problem‑solver with strong time‑keeping and communication skills.
• Demonstrated interest in improving education for all.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
