Assistant Finance Officer (Finance Internship)

About the role

The Assistant Finance Officer internship offers recent graduates a six‑month, hands‑on experience within the finance department of CETL’s Shule Bora education programme. Working closely with senior finance staff, you will support daily financial operations and gain exposure to government‑led education funding processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing bank reconciliation statements and ensure timely approval.
• Manage petty cash, perform regular reconciliations, and record cash transactions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date financial records for submission to the UK head office.
• Support payment processing, including per diems, vouchers, and cheque issuance.
• Compile vendor lists and collate vouchers for batch processing.
• Ensure all payment vouchers meet audit requirements with proper approvals and documentation.
• Monitor tax compliance, specifically withholding tax obligations.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Must be a Tanzanian national.
• 2–3 years of relevant work experience.
• Upper‑second‑class degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
• Proactive problem‑solver with strong time‑keeping and communication skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Demonstrated interest in improving education for all.
