Underground High Voltage Electrical Tradesperson

About the role

The Tradesperson will manage electrical maintenance for underground operations at Geita Gold Mine, covering the underground reticulation system, de‑watering facilities, camp infrastructure, overhead lines, power generation and ventilation. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing high‑voltage tasks and ensuring equipment returns to production quickly and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical faults on equipment such as Sandvik drilling rigs, Jumbo, Solos, Cubex and stalker pumps, and replace damaged parts.
• Perform routine and planned maintenance on underground machinery to maximise output and comply with schedules.
• Carry out high‑voltage switching and project‑based HV tasks, following company safety standards.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production while maintaining product quality and safety.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate electrical works and optimise equipment performance.

Required profile

• Form IV Certificate with a High Voltage Training Certificate and VETA Trade Test Grade One in Electrical (or Level Three Industrial Electricity).
• At least three years of experience working on underground equipment, including high‑voltage switching and fault diagnostics.
• Valid Tanzanian driving licence and driving competency.
• Ability to act as a supervisor when assigned and to complete required legal documentation on time.

Required skills

• High‑voltage electrical knowledge and experience with HV switching.
• Proficiency in electrical fault diagnostics using diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
• Experience with electrical PLC systems.
• Strong manual skills for wiring, installation and repair.
