Tracking Officer

About the role

The Tracking Officer is responsible for monitoring vehicle movements, ensuring that fleet operations follow planned routes and schedules, and providing real‑time updates to stakeholders. This role acts as the communication hub between drivers, management, and customers to guarantee smooth and transparent logistics processes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and track vehicles using GPS and fleet management systems.
• Maintain continuous communication with drivers to obtain status reports and provide updates.
• Identify route deviations, unauthorized stops, delays, or suspicious activities and promptly escalate them.
• Prepare daily tracking, trip, and vehicle movement reports.
• Update customers, management, and stakeholders on vehicle locations.
• Ensure compliance with transportation policies, safety procedures, and operational requirements.
• Monitor fuel consumption trends and report irregularities.
• Record and report accidents, breakdowns, security incidents, and other transport‑related issues.
• Verify delivery timelines and obtain proper proof of delivery.
• Assist in maintaining fleet tracking systems, databases, and operational records.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in fleet tracking, logistics operations, transportation, or a similar role.
• Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or clearing and forwarding is an advantage.
• Good understanding of transportation operations, route planning, and fleet coordination.
• Knowledge of local traffic laws, transport regulations, and road safety standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS tracking systems.
• Experience using fleet management software and vehicle monitoring technologies.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
