Technical Supervisor – CAT 3616 Power Generation

About the role

The company is seeking a senior Technical Supervisor to lead operations and maintenance of CAT 3616 generation assets in Tanzania. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will drive equipment reliability, oversee major overhauls, and ensure compliance with contractual, operational and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical supervision and leadership to operations and maintenance teams.
• Plan and manage preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance activities.
• Supervise major overhauls, commissioning and recommissioning of CAT 3616 generator sets and related equipment.
• Achieve KPIs such as availability, MTBF, MTTR, response time and maintenance compliance.
• Act as the primary technical interface with Caterpillar, OEMs and other stakeholders.
• Utilise Maximo or another CMMS for work‑order planning, reporting and equipment history.
• Lead troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Review maintenance plans, technical reports and performance analyses to support project objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Power Plant Engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience with large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generator sets.
• At least 5 years in a technical supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Hands‑on experience with CAT 3600 series, especially CAT 3616 major‑overhaul activities.
• Strong knowledge of HFO and/or CFO fuel‑system and fuel‑treatment processes.
• Proven track record in KPI management, maintenance planning and CMMS utilisation.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
