Technical Officer – Child Health & Nutrition

About the role

The Technical Officer – Child Health & Nutrition provides field‑level technical and implementation support for child health, immunization and nutrition services. Reporting to the Field Team Leader, the role operationalises national guidelines and improves service quality across regional, council and facility levels.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for IMCI, ETAT, growth monitoring, MYICAN, IMAM, REC and PIRI activities in project‑supported areas.
• Conduct service delivery assessments, mentorship and supportive supervision to strengthen quality of care.
• Collaborate with regional and council health teams to plan, implement and monitor quality‑improvement actions.
• Work with the M&E team to collect, analyse and use routine data for performance monitoring and decision‑making.
• Document implementation experiences, lessons learned and contribute to technical inputs for reports and learning products.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, medicine or a related field (MPH is an advantage).
• Minimum of 5 years experience in child health and nutrition programmes, including at least 2 years as a clinical trainer on IMCI, ETAT, IMAM or MYICAN.
• Strong mentoring, coaching and communication skills with ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
