Technical Manager - Animal Nutrition

About the role

Premium Ingredients Limited (PIL), a subsidiary of Essential Drugs Limited, supplies animal nutrition solutions in Tanzania for the poultry, dairy, beef, aquaculture and feed manufacturing sectors. It is looking for a Technical Manager - Animal Nutrition to lead technical support and customer advice on its product range. The role is based in Dar es Salaam and involves regular travel to customer sites and regional offices.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and advisory services to customers in poultry, dairy, beef, aquaculture and feed manufacturing
• Develop and run nutrition programmes to improve animal health, productivity and profitability
• Support the sales team with customer visits, technical presentations, product demonstrations and training
• Investigate production problems and recommend nutritional and management solutions
• Design, monitor and evaluate field trials and product performance assessments
• Deliver technical training to customers, distributors and company staff
• Write technical reports, articles, presentations and marketing materials
• Build relationships with feed mills, integrated livestock operations, veterinarians and industry stakeholders
• Monitor industry trends and represent the company at exhibitions, conferences and seminars

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health, Livestock Production, Feed Technology or a related agricultural discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in animal nutrition, animal health, feed manufacturing, livestock production or related fields
• Preferred: poultry experience (broilers, layers, breeders) and feed formulation, premixes, feed additives or technical advisory experience
• Valid driver's licence (strong advantage) and willingness to travel extensively in Tanzania

Required skills

• Strong understanding of animal nutrition principles and feed ingredients
• Knowledge of feed additives and their use in livestock
• Analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• Excellent presentation and training abilities
• Interpretation of production data and strong interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
