Superintendent 2 – Production Operations

About the role

The Superintendent 2 – Production Operations leads all plant production activities under the direction of the Manager, Processing. The role ensures safe, cost‑effective, and environmentally responsible operations while managing crew members and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Track critical control verifications, conduct site walk‑abouts and participate in safety programs.
• Monitor process‑safety incident rates, audit readiness, injury frequency, compliance violations and corrective‑action closure.
• Ensure compliance with statutory inspections, health‑and‑safety policies and standards such as NEMC, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IMIU, OSHAS and ICMI.
• Drive risk management through behaviour‑based safety observations, near‑miss reporting and pre‑task risk assessments.
• Maintain housekeeping audit scores across crushing, milling, treatment and waste‑sorting facilities.
• Develop and execute annual production plans and budgets aligned with strategic objectives.
• Deliver plant performance that meets or exceeds throughput, recovery and cost targets.
• Oversee metallurgical data integrity, analysis and reporting for decision‑making.
• Plan and execute production activities to produce gold in line with budgeted ore characteristics.
• Model plant runtime and throughput capacities to build accurate operational plans and Life‑of‑Mine budgets.
• Schedule maintenance of mill liners, screens and cyclones to maximise runtime.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, update SOPs and manage contractor labour for shutdowns.
• Stabilise automation and control systems to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Manage Life‑of‑Mine budgets, capital, labour and reagent variances to reduce operating costs.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale plant production operations.
• Strong knowledge of safety and environmental standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, NEMC, IMIU, OSHAS, ICMI).
• Ability to develop, monitor and control production budgets and cost structures.
• Experience with metallurgical data analysis and reporting.
• Competence in planning and executing maintenance programmes.
• Demonstrated capability to lead continuous‑improvement and risk‑management initiatives.
