Strategic Communications Consultant

About the role

Funding Africa is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Consultant to support a portfolio of nonprofit and social‑impact clients. This part‑time, remote consultancy focuses on high‑level strategy rather than day‑to‑day content production, helping organisations clarify their positioning, narrative and fundraising communications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct communications, positioning and narrative audits across strategies, websites, donor materials and reports.
• Research client sectors, audiences, peer organisations, funder landscapes and emerging trends.
• Support and eventually lead stakeholder interviews to gather insights.
• Translate strategic analysis into clear recommendations, narratives and client‑ready communication assets.
• Develop high‑value communications deliverables such as thought‑leadership pieces, fundraising briefs and influence tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic communications for nonprofit or social‑impact organisations.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to execute recommendations.
• Comfort interviewing senior stakeholders and synthesising complex information.
• Interest in contributing to the growth of a strategic communications practice.
