Site Accountant

About the role

The Site Accountant will manage all financial and accounting activities on the project site, ensuring accurate recording of transactions, cost control, and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements. This role supports project managers by providing timely financial information and safeguarding project assets.

Key responsibilities

• Process and record site‑related financial transactions, including invoices, petty cash, supplier payments, staff advances and expense claims.
• Maintain up‑to‑date accounting records and perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of cash, bank, supplier and ledger accounts.
• Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets, track cost codes and provide regular cost analysis reports.
• Manage site petty cash, prepare cash requisitions and conduct regular reconciliations.
• Verify purchase requisitions, orders, delivery notes and supplier invoices before payment processing.
• Prepare weekly and monthly site financial reports, cost summaries, cash‑flow statements and support month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory tax requirements and support internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum six years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, engineering or project‑based environments.
• Proven experience managing site accounts, project costing and budget monitoring.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Construction/project accounting and cost management expertise.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Understanding of VAT, withholding tax and other statutory compliance.
