Site Accountant – Construction Project Finance

About the role

The Site Accountant will manage all financial and accounting activities at Burhani Power Engineers' project sites in Tanzania. The role ensures accurate transaction recording, cost control, compliance with company policies and statutory requirements, and provides timely financial information to support project management.

Key responsibilities

• Process and record site transactions including invoices, petty cash, supplier payments and staff advances while maintaining up‑to‑date accounting records.
• Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets, produce cost analysis reports and flag budget variances or financial risks.
• Manage site petty cash, perform regular reconciliations and enforce controls to safeguard assets.
• Verify purchase requisitions, orders, delivery notes and supplier invoices before payment processing.
• Prepare weekly and monthly site financial, cost and expenditure reports for management review.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, statutory requirements, VAT and withholding tax, and support internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum 6 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, engineering or project‑based environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
