Senior Financial Controller – Banking

About the role

The Financial Controller is a senior leadership position responsible for strengthening financial governance, supporting sustainable growth, and ensuring excellence across all finance activities within the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end financial accounting, delivering statutory, regulatory and internal reports in line with IFRS, local regulations and Group policies.
• Develop and maintain a robust financial control framework to ensure reporting quality and transparency.
• Collaborate with Group Tax and internal stakeholders to execute tax strategies, ensuring compliance and optimisation of the bank’s tax position.
• Oversee capital adequacy, liquidity, funding, balance‑sheet and market‑risk parameters.
• Partner with the Country Treasurer to prepare and secure Board and regulator approvals for ICAAP.
• Manage the external audit relationship, defining scope, coordinating deliverables and driving governance standards.
• Lead annual budgeting and long‑term financial planning cycles aligned with strategic business directions.
• Prepare and present comprehensive financial performance and regulatory compliance reports to senior leadership and Board committees.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Relevant degree in Business, Accountancy, Finance or an MBA.
• Extensive experience managing complex regulatory financial reporting and banking capital structures.
• Strong leadership, analytical mindset and stakeholder management abilities.
