Senior Accountant – Finance & Reporting

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead the financial operations of Burhani Power Engineers Ltd in Kalenga, ensuring accuracy, compliance and strong internal controls across all projects and corporate activities. This role provides strategic support for budgeting, tax compliance, financial reporting and audit readiness while maintaining the integrity of financial systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and authorize processing of invoices, payments, reimbursements and project‑related financial transactions.
• Maintain timely and accurate financial records in the accounting system and review journal entries for proper classification.
• Lead monthly reconciliations of bank, supplier, intercompany and general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare, review and consolidate project budgets, forecasts and financial plans; monitor actual spend against budgets and produce variance analyses.
• Ensure spending aligns with approved workplans, donor requirements and company policies.
• Guarantee compliance with internal policies, donor regulations, statutory requirements and accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
• Strengthen internal control systems, lead audit preparations and liaise with external auditors.
• Prepare and present periodic financial reports to senior management, donors and partners; contribute to financial statements and project close‑out reports.

Required profile

• Qualified and experienced accounting professional.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP accounting standards.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial operations and lead audit processes.
