Sanitation Engineer – Community WASH Project

About the role

Manavta is launching a community‑based WASH project in an informal coastal settlement of Dar es Salaam. We are seeking a Sanitation Engineer to provide technical expertise from the initial assessment through construction, ensuring safe and sustainable sanitation solutions for roughly 500 residents.

Key responsibilities

• Survey and assess the proposed site and land conditions.
• Recommend appropriate sanitation technologies for low‑resource, informal settings.
• Assist in the design and planning of a community toilet facility.
• Coordinate technical aspects during the infrastructure implementation phase.
• Provide ongoing technical advice and supervision throughout construction.
• Collaborate with Manavta staff and local community members to ensure solutions are practical and sustainable.

Required profile

• Background in sanitation, civil engineering, or WASH infrastructure.
• Previous experience working with NGOs or community‑based projects.
• Familiarity with sanitation systems suitable for informal or low‑resource environments.
• Willingness to dedicate time to a community‑focused initiative.
