Risk and Compliance Officer

About the role

World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization with 31,000+ staff in nearly 100 countries, is recruiting a Risk and Compliance Officer for its Head Office in Tanzania. The post is a local fixed-term position focused on ensuring compliance with VFT and regulatory policies across the region's business centers, managing risks and supporting anti-money laundering efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of VFT and regulatory policies at the business centers in the region, and work with the Compliance Manager to implement the Compliance Monitoring Plan.
• Monitor and report violations of VFT MFB policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and operational non-compliance such as data input, reconciliation and abnormal approvals.
• Report confirmed and potential frauds, and assist the Senior Risk Officer in identifying risks and updating the risk register.
• Conduct portfolio and compliance reviews of branches and loan officers with high PAR, and vet loans more than 120 days in arrears.
• Train staff on bank policies, KYC, consumer protection and anti-money laundering (AML) laws, and report AML issues and untraceable clients.
• Maintain an updated register of politically exposed persons and advise the bank on compliance status with regional, local and regulatory requirements.
• Test internal risk and compliance controls, assess physical security and health gaps in VFT offices, and act as focal point for physical security and safety.
• Prepare monthly compliance review reports and quarterly documentation of the annual action plan.

Required profile

• University degree in Law, Information and Communication Technology, Business Management, Banking or a related discipline.
• Experience in banking or financial institution operations and enterprise risk management.
• Understanding of the impact of money laundering on the economy and financial systems.
• Strong analytical, investigative and planning skills, with reliability, integrity and ethical standards; committed Christian.

Required skills

• Good use of Microsoft Office applications (above average).
• Knowledge of ICT is an added advantage.
