Relationship Manager – Islamic Banking (SME)

About the role

The Relationship Manager – Islamic Banking (SME) will drive growth of NBC’s Islamic Banking portfolio by acquiring new customers and deepening existing relationships. Reporting to the Head of Islamic Banking, the role serves as the primary commercial interface for Islamic Banking clients across retail and business segments while ensuring full Shari’ah compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end business development for the Islamic Banking book, targeting individuals, SMEs and institutions.
• Generate new‑to‑bank customers and achieve monthly acquisition targets for financing and deposit products.
• Mobilise deposits by marketing Lariba savings, current and investment accounts to meet quarterly liability growth goals.
• Originate and structure Shari’ah‑compliant financing proposals (Murabaha, Ijarah, Musharaka, etc.) in collaboration with the Credit Unit.
• Identify untapped market segments, recommend product or pricing adaptations, and represent NBC at community and Islamic finance events.
• Manage an active portfolio of Islamic Banking clients, conducting regular reviews, renewals, top‑ups and cross‑sell opportunities.
• Act as the primary point of contact for escalated customer issues and ensure high satisfaction and retention.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Islamic Banking or Shari’ah‑compliant financial services.
• Demonstrated track record of acquiring new corporate or SME clients and growing loan and deposit portfolios.
• Strong understanding of Islamic finance products such as Murabaha, Ijarah and Musharaka.
• Ability to work independently, represent the bank in client meetings and public forums.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
