Quantity Surveyor - Finishing Works

About the role

A building construction company, represented by Shugulika Africa Limited, is looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join its team and provide high-level support to the Managing Director. The role covers cost estimates, budgets and schedules for finishing works, and requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, software proficiency and good communication.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse project cost estimates, budgets and schedules to meet timelines and financial plans.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and contractors on cost-effective solutions.
• Manage and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for finishing works, and carry out quantity take-offs and rate analysis.
• Reconcile materials and quantities against drawings and specifications, and review contracts, specifications and drawings for scope and deliverables.
• Prepare progress, budget and financial reports for clients and management.
• Coordinate with site teams to track progress, quality and quantities for billing.
• Analyse project costs and budgets, identify variances and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee procurement, including supplier selection, contract negotiation and purchasing of materials and equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 4 to 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, billing and finishing works for real estate construction, with a focus on high-rise developments.
• Experience negotiating contracts, assessing risks and finding cost-saving opportunities.
• Ability to manage high-level projects, coordinate site activities and handle confidential information discreetly.

Required skills

• Proficiency in cost estimating, project scheduling and construction management software.
• Strong knowledge of residential interior design build execution processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
