About the role

The Project Assistant supports the Project Manager in delivering Food Security and Livelihood activities across Tabora. Working primarily in the field, the role ensures effective community engagement, technical assistance to beneficiaries, accurate documentation, and safe transport of staff and materials.

Key responsibilities

  • Support implementation of Food Security and Livelihood activities in line with approved work plans and organizational procedures.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, provide timely assistance, and document outcomes.
  • Facilitate community meetings, training sessions, awareness activities, and farmer group engagements.
  • Provide technical support to farmers and vulnerable households on crop production, poultry and livestock management, and beekeeping.
  • Train and mentor farmer groups, lead farmers, and project participants on animal health, feeding, breeding, disease prevention, and related topics.
  • Coordinate trainings on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Animal Husbandry Practices (GAHP).
  • Promote adoption of improved agricultural practices, including sweet potato cultivation, poultry production, and beekeeping.
  • Support formation and strengthening of community groups, producer groups, and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), linking them to service providers and markets.

Required profile

  • Field‑based orientation with willingness to travel regularly within the project area.
  • Ability to engage effectively with community members, local authorities, and partners.
  • Experience supporting beneficiaries, documenting activities, and ensuring reliable transportation of staff and materials.
