Project Accountant for Women Entrepreneurship Project

About the role

The Project Accountant will manage financial operations and accounting for the AFAWA Project, which empowers women‑led businesses and women employees in ETG's agribusiness supply chains. Reporting to the Consortium Lead, the role covers multi‑country financial reporting, budgeting, compliance and donor audit preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Financial Management – maintain accurate financial records, handle foreign‑currency transactions and support accounting across Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
• Reporting & Budgeting – prepare regular financial reports, manage project budgeting and ensure compliance with donor financial standards.
• Audit & Controls – assist in audit preparations, uphold high accuracy levels and adhere strictly to AfDB/World Bank donor guidelines.
• Travel – be ready to travel to implementation sites in the four participating countries as required.

Required profile

• Education – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field; a Master’s degree and/or CPA/ACCA certification is an advantage.
• Experience – minimum 5 years in project accounting or financial management of donor‑funded programmes, preferably with AfDB or World Bank projects.
• Languages – fluency in English required; working knowledge of Swahili or Portuguese considered a plus.
