Programme Manager – Nyerere Conservation Programme (NCP)

About the role

The Programme Manager will lead the Nyerere Conservation Programme (NCP), a partnership between FZS and the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) aimed at strengthening protected‑area management in Nyerere National Park. Working in a remote, complex environment, you will coordinate technical, financial and operational activities that support law‑enforcement, ecological monitoring and institutional capacity building.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with NNP management to define and implement protected‑area priorities, including law‑enforcement support and resource protection.
• Oversee the development and execution of park management plans and annual operational plans.
• Establish and maintain robust ecological monitoring and management‑effectiveness systems.
• Maintain strong relationships with TANAPA, government agencies, donors and NGOs, providing technical advice and representing the programme in policy forums.
• Manage donor‑funded budgets, reporting and compliance to ensure programme sustainability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading large‑scale conservation or protected‑area programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government authorities, donors and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of protected‑area management, law‑enforcement support and ecological monitoring.
• Excellent strategic, financial and operational oversight skills.
