People Operations Manager

About the role

The People Operations Manager will lead all human resources and people management functions for a boutique hospitality group operating several properties in Tanzania. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures effective recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, training, performance management and compliance across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full recruitment cycle, from advertising to reference checks, and coordinate onboarding and induction programs.
• Prepare employment contracts, maintain confidential employee records, and support performance and disciplinary processes.
• Develop staff schedules, manage leave and absences, and monitor staffing levels to meet operational needs.
• Coordinate payroll preparation, verify payments, administer benefits and statutory deductions, and ensure payroll compliance.
• Plan and deliver training and development initiatives, promote company culture and service excellence.
• Ensure compliance with labour legislation, health and safety policies, and maintain related records.
• Prepare HR reports, track workforce metrics such as attendance, turnover and recruitment, and advise on employee engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Proven experience managing HR functions, preferably within the hospitality or tourism sector.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labour regulations and payroll administration.
• Demonstrated ability to handle recruitment, employee relations, performance management and compliance.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with a focus on employee welfare.
