Packaging Inspection & Coding Engineer

About the role

The Packaging Inspection and Coding Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of inspection and coding systems on a fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) production line. You will optimise process control software, maintain equipment, and support continuous improvement to guarantee product quality and plant availability.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret process specifications and modify/optimise process control software according to standards.
• Identify and resolve software deviations, supporting change‑management procedures.
• Develop and update preventive‑maintenance procedures for inspection and coding equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair packaging inspection & coding systems, coordinating with manufacturers for parts.
• Maintain knowledge of new instrumentation and software technologies.
• Provide engineering support for new installations, upgrades, and enhancements.
• Calibrate instruments, operate plant equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent trade qualification).
• 6‑9 months on‑the‑job experience plus Siemens S7 PLC training.
• 1‑2 years experience in FMCG or similar process environments.
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Self‑starter with high energy, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; team player.
