Operations Coach - Tanzania

About the role

The Operations Coach will provide technical leadership for Bayer’s field‑testing network in Tanzania, ensuring accurate and timely data on product performance across diverse environments. Reporting to the Africa Lead, the role combines strategic planning, stakeholder coordination and coaching of a self‑guided AR&I team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and prioritisation of field‑testing operations to align with regional portfolio objectives.
• Coach and empower local AR&I team members, fostering collaboration and 90‑day work cycles.
• Manage stakeholder engagements with product design, development teams, customer‑facing units and co‑operator farmers.
• Oversee budget management, capital forecasting and project financial control.
• Coordinate planting, plot management, data collection and harvest operations for maize trials.
• Ensure implementation and compliance with SSHE procedures for safe testing programmes.
• Optimise testing site selection and trial management to assess product performance.
• Conduct data quality checks and drive overall team data quality targets.
• Facilitate cross‑regional and global collaborations for technology adoption and AR&I outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in agricultural field operations or research and innovation (AR&I) environments.
• Strong leadership and coaching capabilities to develop self‑guided teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting and project management.
• Experience with maize trial design, planting and data collection processes.
• Commitment to safety and SSHE compliance.
