Network Technician

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Network Technician to join Ahead Africa’s team in Dar es Salaam. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining networking infrastructure for client environments, ensuring reliable connectivity and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain routers, switches, access points and firewalls.
• Deploy wired and wireless LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi solutions.
• Perform structured cabling installations (UTP/Fiber), rack mounting, patch panels and cable management.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, bandwidth and performance issues both onsite and remotely.
• Configure VLANs, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS and basic routing.
• Support VPN setup and basic firewall rule configuration.
• Conduct site surveys and assist in network planning and implementation.
• Test and certify network installations using appropriate tools.
• Monitor network performance and escalate complex issues when needed.
• Maintain documentation including network diagrams, IP schemes and service reports.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field.
• 2–3 years of practical experience in network installation and support.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs and routing fundamentals.
• Ability to work independently, meet project timelines and adhere to client SOPs.
