National Nutrition Consultant for Kigoma Multisectoral Strategy

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a National Nutrition Consultant to lead the development of a five‑year costed Multisectoral Nutrition Strategy and Response Plan for the Kigoma region of Tanzania. The assignment is remote‑based with periodic travel to Kigoma for stakeholder engagement and field validation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare an inception report outlining methodology, workplan, stakeholder consultation approach, data requirements and timeline.
• Review national, regional and district policies, strategies and program documents across nutrition, health, food systems, WASH, education, social protection and community development.
• Conduct a comprehensive nutrition situation analysis for Kigoma, covering outcomes, determinants, service gaps, vulnerable groups and emerging risks such as climate shocks and population movements.
• Undertake problem and causality analysis to identify immediate, underlying and structural drivers of malnutrition.
• Facilitate consultations with regional, district and community stakeholders, development partners, civil society and refugee‑response actors to validate findings and agree on priority actions.
• Develop a multisectoral Nutrition Theory of Change that maps coordinated nutrition‑specific and nutrition‑sensitive pathways.
• Draft the five‑year costed strategy, including strategic priorities, objectives, interventions, implementation arrangements and a results framework.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
• Proven experience in nutrition situation analysis and multisectoral strategy development.
• Familiarity with the Tanzanian nutrition context and stakeholder landscape.
• Ability to work remotely and travel to Kigoma as required.
