Mechanical/Electrical Team Leader – Power Generation (Tanzania)

About the role

This position leads the shift operation and maintenance of a large‑scale power generation site in Tanzania. The role combines hands‑on engineering with team leadership, ensuring generator units run safely, reliably and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Lead shift operation and maintenance across all generator units.
• Allocate work and supervise a multidisciplinary team of technicians.
• Coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Plan and support minor and major generator overhauls.
• Monitor generator performance, alarms, load control and system conditions.
• Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis during failures.
• Support commissioning and recommissioning after repairs or maintenance.
• Maintain strong safety, quality and operational standards throughout the shift.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of hands‑on experience in power plant operation and maintenance.
• Experience with medium‑speed diesel generator sets and HFO/CFO engines or fuel systems.
• At least 3–4 years in a supervisory or team‑leadership role.
• Strong mechanical or electrical background; dual‑skill candidates are a plus.
• Relevant engineering qualification preferred, though experienced technicians will be considered.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
