Mechanical Fitter

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join and grow our team. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting gold‑plant equipment while adhering to Barrick’s health, safety and environmental policies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, maintenance and execution of plant equipment in line with work requirements and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems on process plant equipment, ensuring parts are selected and replaced according to specifications.
• Maintain mechanical tools and equipment to Barrick and OEM safety standards, and ensure proper storage.
• Plan and prioritize work, including sequencing, capacity considerations and weekly review of planned versus actual activities.
• Complete all required logbooks, isolation, lockout, confined‑space, working‑at‑height and lifting & rigging procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a recognized Mechanical Trade Certificate; Mechanical Trade Certification highly desired.
• Minimum 3 years post‑trade experience as an artisan in mechanical fitting on gold‑plant equipment.
• Demonstrated competence in rebuilding and servicing gold‑plant machinery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Valid light‑vehicle manual‑class driving licence.
