Mechanical & Electrical Supervisor (Tanzania)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Supervisor to lead the maintenance team at an established power‑generation site in Tanzania. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will ensure that generating equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the site maintenance team, set priorities and maintain high execution standards.
• Oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities for large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generators.
• Supervise minor and major generator repairs, overhauls, commissioning and recommissioning.
• Monitor generator performance, alarms, system malfunctions and service‑meter readings.
• Optimise generator operation and load control while coordinating maintenance requirements.
• Lead troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and reliability‑improvement initiatives.
• Analyse performance data and support condition‑monitoring activities.
• Ensure all work complies with approved procedures, safety requirements and site standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Power Plant Engineering.
• 5–8 years hands‑on experience with large‑bore, medium‑speed diesel generator sets.
• 5–10 years supervisory experience leading mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and rotating‑equipment technicians.
• Strong leadership, planning, decision‑making, communication and analytical abilities.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.

Required skills

• CAT 3600 Series engine experience or Caterpillar certification.
• Experience with HFO/CFO fuel systems.
• Proficiency with Maximo or a comparable CMMS.
• Knowledge of medium‑voltage generators/alternators, preferably ABB.
• Generator commissioning and recommissioning expertise.
