Manager, Merchant Acquiring

About the role

The Manager, Merchant Acquiring will drive growth and profitability of the bank’s merchant portfolio by acquiring new merchants, retaining existing ones, and promoting cross‑selling of additional bank products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business strategies to expand the merchant acquiring unit in line with performance metrics.
• Manage the full value proposition to clients, including cross‑promotion of prepaid cards, loyalty programs, gift cards and other equity products.
• Oversee portfolio management, client retention, and relationship strengthening through regular financial reporting and performance monitoring.
• Lead Point‑of‑Sale channel initiatives, product strategy, and market analysis to support growth of card and digital banking solutions.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Fraud, and processing partners to mitigate card‑related risks and enforce audit and scheme standards (VISA/Mastercard).
• Define and implement strategies for Global Payment Acceptance, ensuring operational excellence and brand consistency.
• Monitor regulatory changes, industry trends, and emerging market intelligence to guide product enhancements.
• Drive merchant acquisition events, co‑marketing plans, and major national programs to meet sales targets.

Required profile

• Holder of a University Degree or equivalent qualification in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Statistics or Research.
• Strategic planning and execution skills with strong analytical, presentation and reporting abilities, and proven capability to lead cross‑functional teams.
