Manager, Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME)

About the role

The Manager, Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) will lead maintenance strategy for mobile mining equipment in Geita Division, ensuring high availability, reliability and safety. Reporting to the Director of Asset Management and Engineering, you will oversee major services, rebuilds and warranty management while supporting the mine plan.

Key responsibilities

• Champion a safety‑first culture by identifying and mitigating workplace hazards.
• Provide technical leadership to maintenance teams and oversee workshops, welding and tyre bays.
• Develop and implement scopes of work for major rebuild projects in line with OEM standards.
• Lead warranty investigations, claim management and root‑cause analyses for equipment failures.
• Maintain a 5‑year rolling equipment replacement plan and manage rebuild forecasts.
• Coordinate equipment selection for acquisitions, ensuring compliance with AGA standards.
• Collaborate with open‑pit teams to maximise equipment uptime and productivity.
• Oversee inventory management under Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of hands‑on heavy mining mobile equipment maintenance experience.
• At least 7 years in senior management or supervisory roles.
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent vocational experience.
• Proven experience managing large fleets of Caterpillar equipment (e.g., 6060, 6040, 785C/D, 777D/E).
