Maltings Manager

About the role

The Maltings Manager will lead the malt production team in Moshi, Tanzania, ensuring high‑quality malt for African breweries while driving efficiency, safety and sustainability. This role combines operational leadership with continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver on KPIs such as Gross Line Yield, water usage, safety and customer complaints through VPO implementation.
• Produce targeted tonnes of malt for African breweries, managing quality, cost and supply.
• Drive plant performance, manage losses in malt handling and pre‑cleaning, and execute improvement plans.
• Develop people using DPC principles and manage external stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Professional qualification – minimum MSc in Business Management or BSc in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• 5‑10 years relevant experience, including 3‑5 years in a management role within a brewery or malting plant.
• Demonstrated experience in commercial decision‑making, financial and operational management.

Required skills

• VPO (Value Process Optimization) implementation experience.
• Quality Management Systems and laboratory management expertise.
