Maintenance Manager – Luxury Beach Resort in Zanzibar

About the role

The Maintenance Manager will oversee all maintenance and renovation activities at the new Iberostar Selection Zanzibar 5* resort, ensuring that machinery and facilities operate optimally to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction. You will plan, organise and supervise the department’s daily work while driving continuous improvement and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily routines to keep hotel machinery and facilities in good condition.
• Identify preventive, corrective and renovation needs for equipment and infrastructure.
• Maintain adequate stock of spare parts, materials and products in the workshop.
• Ensure fire control equipment and emergency exits function correctly.
• Oversee air‑conditioning systems and prepare technical equipment for events.
• Guarantee compliance with legal obligations, energy‑efficiency and safety standards.
• Analyse guest feedback related to facilities and implement improvement plans.
• Manage renovation projects while controlling installation and maintenance costs.
• Advise the General Manager on electricity, gas and water consumption and propose optimisation measures.
• Lead, recruit, train and evaluate the maintenance team, scheduling shifts, leaves and vacations.
• Collaborate on the annual budget, approve invoices and monitor expenditures.

Required profile

• Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
• Relevant technical education.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar maintenance management role.
• English level B2 (mandatory); additional languages are a plus.
• Knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting, industrial refrigeration and air‑conditioning.
