LOTO Coordinator – Electrical Isolation Authority

About the role

The LOTO Coordinator is responsible for the safe execution of all isolation‑related activities across energized systems. Working closely with field operations, commissioning and maintenance teams, the role ensures strict compliance with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and project work‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead coordination and application of electrical, mechanical and process isolations in line with project LOTO procedures.
• Review and validate isolation plans submitted by engineers, confirming technical completeness and adherence to standards.
• Conduct joint site visits to assess risks and isolation feasibility before permit issuance.
• Verify correct application and removal of isolations, maintaining integrity of isolation points throughout work.
• Support Permit‑to‑Work processes, linking isolation documentation to corresponding permits.
• Perform routine audits of isolation and permit processes, addressing non‑conformities and initiating corrective actions.
• Participate in risk‑assessment reviews such as HAZIDs, SIMOPs and task‑based assessments.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience implementing safe systems of work (ISSOW, PTW, CoW) on industrial or energy projects.
• Hands‑on experience preparing and applying electrical, mechanical and process isolations.
• ONC qualification or recognized trade background in instrumentation, electrical or mechanical systems.
• COMPEX certification for E&I disciplines and Hazardous Area Training.
• Experience on major infrastructure, oil & gas or energy projects preferred.

Required skills

• Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• ISSOW, Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) and Control‑of‑Work (CoW) systems.
• Interpretation of P&IDs, electrical SLDs, PFDs, UFDs, D&IDs and GA drawings.
• Knowledge of isolation devices, energy sources and hierarchy of controls.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
