Legal Manager – Logistics & Transport

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and commercially‑minded Legal Manager to lead the legal and compliance function of a leading logistics and transport organisation. You will protect the business, enable growth, and ensure regulatory compliance across all operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee legal, regulatory and compliance matters for logistics, transport and supply‑chain activities.
• Provide strategic advice to senior management on commercial transactions, operational risks and corporate governance.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial contracts, including transport, haulage, freight forwarding, SLA, procurement, lease and insurance agreements.
• Ensure compliance with transport, labour, tax, environmental and corporate laws.
• Manage litigation, arbitration, mediation, insurance claims and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel.
• Represent the company before regulatory authorities, courts and government agencies.
• Develop and monitor legal compliance frameworks, corporate policies and internal governance procedures.
• Conduct legal due diligence for new ventures, partnerships, investments and acquisitions.
• Advise on employment and labour law matters, including disciplinary proceedings and investigations.
• Protect intellectual property, confidential information and legal documentation.
• Monitor legislative developments affecting the logistics and transport sector and provide timely advice.
• Deliver legal awareness and compliance training for staff.
• Prepare legal opinions, board papers, compliance reports and risk assessments.
• Lead, mentor and develop the legal team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognised institution.
• Admission to the Bar with a valid practising certificate.
• Relevant postgraduate qualification (LL.M) is a plus.
• Extensive experience in corporate, commercial and transport law, preferably within logistics or supply‑chain environments.
• Proven ability to manage complex litigation and regulatory matters.
• Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
