Lead Mechanical Technician – Ports & Terminals

About the role

The Lead Mechanical Technician is responsible for advanced diagnostics, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modernization of diesel‑powered equipment used in ports and terminals. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, reliability, and compliance with DP World safety, quality, and maintenance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specialized mechanical and electronic diagnostics on diesel engines and related powertrain systems.
• Execute major and minor repairs, overhauls, rebuilds, and complete reconstructions of diesel engines, fuel injection systems, and automatic transmissions.
• Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for port tractors, RTG cranes, forklifts, and associated hydraulic and auxiliary equipment.
• Participate in modernization and repowering projects for port tractors, upgrading engines and powertrain components.
• Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs to minimise operational disruptions.
• Maintain technical documentation, records, and compliance with OEM specifications and DP World standards.

Required profile

• Proven ability to perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and overhaul of diesel‑powered port equipment.
• Experience with automatic transmission repair, calibration, and testing.
• Familiarity with hydraulic system maintenance and fuel injection component repair.
• Capability to support modernization projects and maintain detailed technical records.
