Lead Counsel

About the role

ZOLA iNTELLIGENCE (ZOLAi) is looking for a full‑time Lead Counsel to take on General Counsel‑level responsibilities. The role will sit on the leadership team and protect the company’s interests while supporting rapid growth in emerging energy markets.

Key responsibilities

• Represent ZOLAi in all legal matters across all jurisdictions, ensuring the company’s best interests are protected.
• Provide accurate, timely, and commercially sound legal advice to the Leadership Team on corporate, operational, regulatory, and strategic issues.
• Lead high‑stakes international transactions, including commercial contracts, financing, licensing, partnerships, M&A, and equity deals.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and maintain operational and commercial agreements such as customer leases, supplier contracts, contractor agreements, and mobile‑money provider agreements.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks through research, legislative analysis, compliance monitoring, and risk‑management strategies.
• Oversee litigation, disputes, administrative proceedings, environmental permitting matters, and regulatory inquiries.

Required profile

• 8–12 years of corporate legal experience.
• Strong proficiency with AI‑driven legal tools (e.g., Spellbook, Luminance, Gemini).
• Experience handling complex international transactions in emerging markets.
• Ability to provide commercially focused legal guidance to senior leadership.
