IT Support Specialist – Tanzania

About the role

The IT Support Specialist will report to the IT Director and ensure that all workstations, peripherals and office tools run smoothly for staff and visitors in Tanzania. The role combines hands‑on technical assistance with user training and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist users directly or intervene to resolve technical issues and malfunctions.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical support to office staff and visitors.
• Install, configure and maintain standard hardware and software, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices and printers.
• Monitor network and connectivity, report issues to central product and service teams.
• Support IT security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection, antivirus, authentication, log management and content filtering.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory of the IT asset fleet.
• Organise IT awareness and training activities, including workshops and exhibitions.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in IT services, end‑user support or information security.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Ability to work effectively in a virtual, multicultural team.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Networking fundamentals and first‑level troubleshooting.
• Firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, authentication systems, log management and content‑filtering solutions.
• Hardware installation, configuration and support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices and printers.
• IT asset management and inventory lifecycle handling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
