Instrument Engineer – ICSS & Cybersecurity Lead

About the role

Airswift is supporting a major crude oil transportation and export infrastructure project in East Africa. The Instrument Engineer will provide technical leadership for instrumentation, integrated control and safety systems (ICSS), telecommunications and maintenance engineering activities, ensuring operational readiness, reliability and cybersecurity of critical automation assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead maintenance engineering for ICSS, instrumentation and telecommunications across operational facilities.
• Develop, review and maintain maintenance strategies, procedures and standards for control systems.
• Monitor KPIs, analyse trends and drive reliability improvement initiatives to maximise plant availability.
• Oversee major ICSS software updates, system modifications and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
• Manage equipment lifecycle, obsolescence planning and industrial cybersecurity solutions.
• Administer PI systems for operational monitoring and support contractor audits and continuous‑improvement programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years experience in instrumentation and ICSS maintenance within Oil & Gas, petrochemical or industrial sectors.
• At least 8 years experience in industrial maintenance engineering and reliability optimisation.
• Proven ability to manage contractor interfaces and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Industrial Information Security Systems training or equivalent cybersecurity qualification.
