Head of Sales – Mining Sector (East Africa)

About the role

Drive market penetration in the East African mining sector through technical selling, key account leadership and positioning the business as a trusted mining partner.

Key responsibilities

• Drive mining sector sales growth across East Africa.
• Build strategic relationships with mining operators and key decision‑makers.
• Lead sales of steel products, building solutions, and mining support systems.
• Manage major tenders, projects and commercial opportunities.
• Lead and develop a multi‑country sales team.
• Ensure compliance with local content, safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate with operations and supply chain to deliver customer solutions.
• Achieve sales, margin and collection targets across the region.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Mining Engineering.
• 10‑15 years overall experience, with at least 5 years in technical sales or site engineering within mining or heavy industry.
• Proven “hunter” track record breaking into new industrial markets and managing high‑value tenders.
• 3‑5 years experience leading or coordinating a geographically dispersed sales team across multiple countries.
• Strong negotiation and relationship‑building abilities with site foremen and corporate procurement heads.
