Head of Internal Audit – Financial Services

About the role

CVPeople Tanzania is looking for an experienced Head of Internal Audit to lead the internal audit function from its Dar es Salaam office. The role ensures audit activities align with business objectives and regulatory requirements while providing independent assurance to senior management and the Board.

Key responsibilities

• Report audit findings and insights quarterly to the Board Audit & Risk Committee and senior management.
• Develop and oversee the Risk‑Based Internal Audit Annual Plan (RBIAAP) in line with the International Professional Practice Framework (IPPF).
• Conduct branch, process, information‑system and surprise audits, and supervise their implementation.
• Prepare bi‑annual regulatory and donor compliance reports and lead internal control training.
• Review policies, procedures and circulars, and carry out investigations while maintaining independence.
• Build internal audit capacity through staff development, training programmes and supervision of asset verification.
• Monitor and follow up on audit recommendations to ensure effective remediation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in accounting, business, public administration, economics, management or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CIA, CPA or CISA.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in internal audit, preferably within financial services.
• Strong knowledge of professional audit standards and the IPPF framework.

Required skills

• Expertise in risk‑based audit planning and execution.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise audit reports and presentations for senior audiences.
• Proficiency in reviewing policies, procedures and regulatory compliance.
