Head of HR Operations & Governance

About the role

The Head of HR Operations & Governance will lead the delivery of efficient HR services across Tanzania, ensuring compliance with group policies, risk controls, and local regulations. This senior position is responsible for overseeing payroll, pensions, medical benefits, HR analytics, records management, and the integration of digital HR platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement of HR operational services and resolve service delivery issues with senior management.
• Oversee payroll processing, ensuring governance, accuracy, and alignment with people experience standards.
• Maintain compliance with regional and country HR operating standards, service level agreements, and third‑party supplier contracts.
• Implement and monitor HR governance, risk, and audit programs, delivering remediation actions as needed.
• Manage the HR function budget and supervise deferred pensioner obligations.
• Champion digital HR platforms such as Workday and the People Portal, ensuring content is up‑to‑date and knowledge is shared.
• Lead team development, succession planning, and business continuity for all HR operational areas.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of HR governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale payroll, pension, and benefits operations.
• Experience overseeing third‑party service providers and contractual agreements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
