Group Head of IT & Digital Transformation – Tanzania

About the role

A regional business group active in transport, logistics, mobility and related commercial services is looking for an experienced technology executive to lead its technology strategy, enterprise IT operations, digital transformation, information security and technology governance. The role reports to the Group CEO and covers Tanzania and other group markets, with direct reports including an IT Operations Manager, Enterprise Applications Manager, Infrastructure and Cloud Manager, Cybersecurity Lead and Business Systems Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Define a group-wide IT and digital transformation strategy, set up enterprise architecture and build a multi-year technology roadmap.
• Oversee enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM and HRIS, and drive digitisation of manual processes.
• Manage infrastructure, cloud services, networks, endpoints and data storage, and set service-management processes.
• Establish an information-security strategy, oversee cybersecurity controls and coordinate risk assessments and incident response.
• Lead digital transformation and automation programmes, and define baselines for measuring their impact.
• Set data-governance and reporting standards, oversee dashboards and business intelligence solutions.
• Manage the technology budget, procurement, vendor contracts and technology policies.
• Build and lead the technology function, develop succession plans and communicate technical issues in business terms.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field; a Master's is advantageous.
• At least 12 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including five years leading a substantial IT function at senior or executive level.
• Experience managing technology across multiple business units, locations or countries, and implementing enterprise systems and transformation programmes.
• Experience managing significant technology budgets and complex vendor relationships.
• Ability to engage with CEOs, Boards and business-unit executives.

Required skills

• Relevant certifications in IT service management, cloud architecture, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture or programme management are advantageous.
