Grants Specialist – Lake Tanganyika Biodiversity Conservation

About the role

The Grants Specialist will manage all phases of publicly funded awards for the Lake Tanganyika Biodiversity Conservation Network, ensuring compliance, accurate financial reporting, and effective grant administration across Tanzania, Zambia, and the DRC.

Key responsibilities

• Review funder solicitations, proposals, and budgets.
• Negotiate agreements and amendments, and set up awards in the finance system.
• Validate financial data for accuracy and compliance, maintaining auditable files.
• Coordinate with award managers and contracting officers to meet agreement terms.
• Oversee due‑diligence and administrative processes for grants awarded to partner organizations.
• Provide support and training on public award administration to staff.
• Collaborate with the Africa Region grants team and report to the Lead Grants Specialist.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in grant or public award administration.
• Experience with accounting/financial analysis and reporting systems.
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
• Willingness to travel to remote locations within Tanzania and the Lake Tanganyika region.
