Grants Manager (Contingent upon Donor Approval)

About the role

The Grants Manager leads the implementation of a grant‑making strategy, overseeing the selection, award, and financial administration of sub‑grants to partner organisations. The role ensures compliance with donor regulations, builds sub‑grantee capacity, and drives cost‑effective project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement sub‑grant management processes.
• Lead the selection of sub‑grantees, establish criteria, and conduct pre‑award assessments.
• Analyse budgets, negotiate terms, and prepare award documentation for approval.
• Monitor sub‑grantee performance, ensure adherence to USG, Jhpiego and JHU regulations, and manage risk mitigation.
• Provide technical assistance on grant policies, procurement procedures, and donor regulations.
• Develop financial systems for sub‑grantees, review and approve budgets, and coordinate monthly reporting and reimbursements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing sub‑grants or similar funding mechanisms.
• Strong knowledge of USG, Jhpiego and JHU grant and procurement regulations.
• Ability to assess risk, conduct financial analysis and negotiate award terms.
• Experience delivering capacity‑building support to local organisations.
