The specialist works with significant autonomy in budgeting, financial reporting, risk analysis and compliance, and may mentor junior specialists or coordinate improvements to financial systems and capacity building.

Key responsibilities

  • Facilitate financial management for complex donor-funded awards, preparing high-quality financial reports, forecasts and analyses, and coordinate with field accountants so that records feed into deeper analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to institutional and multilateral donors and stakeholders, using financial reporting systems to track grant expenditures and comply with donor requirements.

  • Monitor procured goods so they are tracked, documented, used and disposed of at the end of grants in line with donor and organizational requirements.
  • Collaborate with the compliance specialist on vendor screening against U.S./EU excluded parties lists, and work with external auditors during donor audits, including Single Audit, to prepare audit schedules and documentation.
  • Develop limited budgets for government and multilateral donor projects and forecast financial performance against projections with global and national offices.
  • Work with the finance team, global program, legal and other stakeholders, and provide training and coaching to program staff and other financial specialists on financial management.

  • Certification from a nationally or internationally recognized organization in a related field.
  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ, commitment to child protection, and adherence to Compassion's Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk up to 8 hours per day; travel of up to 10% of the schedule may be required.
