About the role
The Food Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and optimizing daily food production operations within a processing facility. This role ensures that production targets, quality standards and food safety regulations are consistently met while driving operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Plan daily and shift‑based production activities according to order requirements and targets.
- Allocate manpower across steaming, cutting, drying, peeling, grading and packing processes.
- Monitor workflow to minimise downtime, bottlenecks and production delays.
- Track production output against targets and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain processing parameters such as steam pressure, drying temperature and moisture levels.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure product grading and quality standards meet specifications.
- Implement GMP, GHP and HACCP practices across all production areas.
- Enforce hygiene standards, PPE usage and food safety procedures for all staff.
- Supervise workers, line leaders and helpers, maintaining discipline and productivity.
- Train staff on proper handling, grading, hygiene and production procedures.
- Monitor yield performance, processing losses and waste, and drive waste‑reduction initiatives.
- Report machine breakdowns to maintenance and ensure safe equipment usage.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial or food production environments.
- Strong leadership and team supervision abilities.
- Knowledge of quality control, inventory management and food safety procedures.
- Familiarity with GMP, HACCP and manufacturing compliance standards.
- Excellent organisational, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles is an advantage.
- Experience in food processing or organic production environments is highly advantageous.
